Hi!
So you received our wedding invitation and you are thinking about accepting it and you might have some questions. The information below might answer a few of them - otherwise feel free to email us.
We will try to update the blog on a bi-weekly basis to share more details about the island, its towns, the best beaches, restaurant recommendations, beach clubs, rental cars, car or scooter, things to do and see etc… But we thought we should provide you with certain basic information should you wish to book your flights and accommodations in the near future.
WHERE IS IT?
The wedding will take place in the south-western part of the Ibiza island. The ceremony is in San Agustin (aka Sant Agusti dès Vedra), the reception in Cala Codolar and the rehearsal dinner in San José (aka Sant Josep de sa Talia).
San José is a most common reference point as many roads in that part of the island converge to and from this little town. San José is approximately 20 minutes away from Ibiza town (aka Eivissa) and the airport.
Needless to say Ibiza is a great spot for spending vacations. Those who think it is only a big party place for young people are totally wrong. As we often say "there are two kinds of Ibiza"! One can find and build his own unique and personal experience on this island and we will try to help you with that offering a variety of options and advices in terms of accommodations, beaches and entertainment.
Sure, if you want a piece of the party action, there is nowhere like it, but leave the clubs behind and you'll find upscale restaurants, unspoiled sandy beaches, remote coves, crystal clear water, boutique hotels and restored farmhouses aplenty.
Just remember to steer clear of the tourist hubs like San Antonio (aka Sant Antoni de Portmany) and Playa d'en Bossa.
The following websites are pretty helpful if you wish to know and learn more about Ibiza.
WHERE TO STAY?
We recommend you to stay in the south western part of the island to have an easy and quick access to Cala Codolar, San Agustin and San José. Anything close to or west of San José will be quite well located. Again, for the love of God, don’t go to San Antonio!
Ibiza town could be tempting but we believe the highly touristic main city is best seen or visited, at least once or maybe twice during your stay.
Here are few options that might interest you:
VILLA
If you come for a week, you can unite with friends and rent a villa. There are plenty of houses for rent along the coast with different styles and for all budgets. Since the wedding will take place in the low season, you can negotiate flexible days and good price.
Here are the links to few websites you might want to consult:
We rented our villa from this website: www.ibizaruralvilla.com. Ask for Jenny (jenny@ibizaruralvillas.com) - we met her and she is very helpful and nice. She knows about our wedding and related venues and she could propose interesting options. In fact, as of last week, they had a 5 bedroom villa (Bella Vista) a few meters from our villa and a less than 5 minutes walk from the reception venue in Cala Codolar (the price is 4,400 euros for the week).
BOUTIQUE HOTEL
Another nice option is to stay at a Finca, a traditional Spanish farm house, that was turned into a luxury boutique hotel or Agrotourismo. There are many of them on the island, our favorite:
Finca Can Xuxu *****L
This boutique hotel is nestled up in the mountains of the Saint Josep coast. Cool, comfortable and utterly chic, it stands up to its name which in Spanish means "Darling". Its French owner Alexander developed the guesthouse from a 100-year old holiday home.
Each room is different, from the modern suites with their own private terraces, to the incredible Javanese bungalows with their enor;ous beds and private outdoor showers. The 14-metre long swimming pool is elegantly furnished with sunset terraces, day beds and chill-out areas.
Bear in mind that there is a 7 night minimum stay and the prices range from 250 to 470 euros per night (+10% VAT).
For a more budget version consider Villa Can Xuxu, this is a separate establishment belonging to the same owner. It consists of 3 separate rooms in a house situated in a tiny village of San Agustin. This a good value for money deal will allow you to enjoy all the facilities and the swimming pool of near-by Finca while paying much less.
You will also stay close to the venues of the program as the religious ceremony will take place in the village of San Agustin.
We have additional information and the price list and room description so drop us an email if you have any questions about Can Xuxu (the finca or the villa). Otherwise you can contact Charlotte Cren at info@canxuxu.com for questions or to book.
HOTELS
Most hotels are located in or near Ibiza town or San Antonio and there are just a few hotels in the southwest/San Jose part of the island. We can recommend three hotels in the area. We stayed at or visited each of them and, though they are of different prices and categories, each is very good option.
Hotel Village****
Hotel Village, is a 4-star hotel situated away from the tourist centres yet very close to some of Ibiza’s most beautiful beaches and our wedding venue. Here, you will experience an unforgettable stay full of beauty and romance in a stylish atmosphere with a breathtaking view.
Though not as posh as Can Xuxu this hotel is nonetheless an interesting option. Situated in Cala Vadella, it is along the coasts, line-up with beaches and little less than a 10 minutes drive from San José, San Agustin and Cala Codolar.
Visit the web-site:
http://www.hotel-village-ibiza.com/
We have pre-booked 7 rooms (the only rooms left as of last week). There is a minimum 4 nights stay and guests to our wedding get a 5% discount from the mid season rates. You can reach Hendrik at info@hotel-village-ibiza.com for information or to book.
Hostel Cala Moli ***
Hostel Cala Moli is a small property of only 10 rooms. We visited the hotel and we can attest that it offers very good value for the money. It is also located along the west coast of the islands and in proximity to many beaches, as well as the wedding locations of San José and San Agustin.
Standard rooms are 105 euros while bigger rooms with an extra salon space and bigger balcony are 135 euros per night. There are no minimum stay conditions. All rooms have sea view and you can access the beach by walking.
If you have any doubts or difficulties finding a place to stay, don't hesitate to ask us directly. We suggest however, that you book your accommodation in advance since this part of the island is quite popular and there are not so many good options available.HOW TO GET ON THE ISLAND?
Whether, for the most of you, you fly from Moscow, Montreal, Toronto, New York there are no direct flights to Ibiza. There are daily flights from and to most of the European capitals. However, the wedding being after the peak of the high season, there are less direct flights available per day. For instance, there is only 1 direct flight per day to and from Paris with Vueling and London has 3 or 4.
